Washed cotton is percale taken through an enzyme wash after it has been sewn, which breaks the surface in and gives it the texture of a sheet that has been loved for a year. There is no crispness and no sheen; it is simply soft, and it looks right unironed.
Two things to know. Garment-dyed shades like dusk rose and plum fade gently with every wash - count on a shade lighter after a year - and the wash takes some of the strength out of the fibre, so this sheet will not outlast the plain percale.
