An oxford case has a flat flange - here 5 cm, with a single row of stitching - running round all four sides, so the pillow looks framed rather than stuffed. It is the case for the front pillows on a made bed; the plain housewife case is the one you actually sleep on behind it.
The flange creases and needs an iron to lie flat, more than the body of the case does. Sizes are the pillow sizes; the flange is extra on top.
